Our New Barn
Kathy with Marty McGee

Welcome to our website! We are the Hancock family, and we live in the area between the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers called the Northern Neck of Virginia. I am Kathy, a Medical Technologist hoping to retire in a few years, and an animal lover from the day I was born. David is the retired Yankee from Pennsylvania who finagled his way into my heart. On the day of our first wedding anniversary, we returned from Kazakhstan with our adopted children Danelya and Justin. In the years to follow, our home, KritterKorner, has sheltered cats, dogs, guinea pigs, hermit crabs, geckos, bearded dragons, turtles, and freshwater aquarium fish.

In anticipation of college expenses while gearing down to retirement, I researched home-based businesses. Imagine my surprise, and joy, to find a reference to the potentially profitable, tax deductible alpaca lifestyle! We had the land, and after visiting several farms, we caught the "alpaca bug." Within weeks we acquired our starter herd, and our farm, Chickacoan Alpacas, has become a reality.
We plan to improve our herd with each breeding, and aim for correct conformation, fleece that is crimpy, fine, and dense, and animals with good temperament. Finally, we will endeavor to keep learning and hopefully to mentor new alpaca owners.

Thanks for visiting, and God Bless!
